2018 Jaguar XJ Car Insurance Rates

Wish you could get a refund on an expensive insurance policy? Trust us when we tell you you are not the only one feeling buyer’s remorse.

Since you have so many insurance providers from which to choose, it’s nearly impossible to choose a lower cost insurance company.

It’s a good habit to quote other rates occasionally because insurance prices tend to go up over time. Just because you found the best deal on XJ insurance six months ago a different company probably has better rate quotes today. Ignore everything you know about insurance because we’re going to show you the easiest way to save on insurance.

How to compare insurance coverage price quotes

There are multiple methods to compare insurance coverage quotes, but there is one way that is more efficient than others. You can waste hours talking to agents in your area, or you could use online quotes for quick rates.

Many of the larger companies participate in a marketplace that allows shoppers to submit one quote, and at least one company returns a competitive quote determined by their information. This prevents consumers from doing form submissions to every company.

The single downside to using this type of form is buyers cannot specifically choose which insurance companies to receive prices from. So if you prefer to choose from a list of companies to compare, we have assembled a list of companies who write insurance coverage in your area. View list of insurance companies.

It’s up to you which method you use, but compare nearly identical coverage limits for each price quote. If you enter different values for each quote it will be nearly impossible to get a fair rate comparison. Having just a slight variation in coverage limits may result in a large different in cost. And when comparing insurance coverage rates, know that comparing more company’s prices increases the change that you will find a lower rate.

Take policy discounts and save

Insurance can be pricey, but there’s a good chance there are discounts to help bring down the price. Certain credits will be shown when you get a quote, but some must be manually applied before being credited.

  • Professional Memberships – Being a member of qualifying employment or professional organizations may earn a discount when getting a car insurance quote.
  • Lower Rates for Military – Being on active duty in the military can result in better prices.
  • More Vehicles More Savings – Buying coverage for more than one vehicle with one company can get a discount for every vehicle.
  • Discount for Home Ownership – Owning a home can earn you a little savings because owning a home requires personal responsibility.
  • Anti-theft System – Vehicles optioned with advanced anti-theft systems are stolen less frequently and qualify for as much as a 10% discount.
  • New Vehicle Savings – Buying a new car instead of a used car can cost up to 25% less because newer models are generally safer.
  • Paperwork-free – Many insurance companies will give a small break just for signing your application on the web.
  • Early Signing – Some insurance companies reward drivers for buying a new policy prior to the expiration date on your current policy. Ten percent is about the average savings.
  • No Charge for an Accident – Not a discount per se, but companies like Geico and Liberty Mutual allow you one accident without the usual rate increase if your claims history is clear for a certain period of time.

Discounts lower rates, but most discount credits are not given to the overall cost of the policy. Most only apply to individual premiums such as physical damage coverage or medical payments. So even though they make it sound like having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, companies don’t profit that way.

Large insurance companies and some of the discounts are:

  • Travelers includes discounts for IntelliDrive, student away at school, hybrid/electric vehicle, new car, early quote, and driver training.
  • 21st Century has savings for automatic seat belts, homeowners, air bags, good student, student driver, and 55 and older.
  • State Farm discounts include safe vehicle, anti-theft, multiple policy, driver’s education, multiple autos, Drive Safe & Save, and passive restraint.
  • Geico may have discounts that include anti-lock brakes, multi-vehicle, air bags, defensive driver, federal employee, and seat belt use.
  • SAFECO may include discounts for anti-theft, teen safety rewards, safe driver, bundle discounts, and accident prevention training.
  • AAA may offer discounts for pay-in-full, education and occupation, multi-car, good student, anti-theft, AAA membership discount, and good driver.

Before purchasing a policy, check with every prospective company to give you their best rates. Some discounts may not be available in your area.

Which policy gives me the best coverage?

When choosing the best auto insurance coverage, there really is no perfect coverage plan. Each situation is unique and your policy should reflect that. Here are some questions about coverages that may help highlight if your situation might need professional guidance.

  • When do I need to add a new car to my policy?
  • Is my camper covered by my car insurance policy?
  • Can I rent a car in Mexico?
  • How high should my medical payments coverage be?
  • Should I waive the damage coverage when renting a car?
  • Does my policy cover me when driving someone else’s vehicle?
  • Is motorclub coverage worth it?

If you’re not sure about those questions but you know they apply to you, then you may want to think about talking to an insurance agent. To find an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form or go to this page to view a list of companies.

Insurance coverage basics

Learning about specific coverages of your policy helps when choosing appropriate coverage for your vehicles. The terms used in a policy can be confusing and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording. These are the usual coverages found on the average insurance policy.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage – Your UM/UIM coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when the “other guys” either have no liability insurance or not enough. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as damage to your Jaguar XJ.

Due to the fact that many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is very important.

Comprehensive coverage – Comprehensive insurance coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.

Comprehensive coverage protects against things like falling objects, damage from getting keyed and a tree branch falling on your vehicle. The highest amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle’s value is low consider dropping full coverage.

Collision – Collision insurance will pay to fix damage to your XJ caused by collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You first must pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.

Collision coverage protects against things like hitting a parking meter, sustaining damage from a pot hole and damaging your car on a curb. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider removing coverage from vehicles that are older. It’s also possible to raise the deductible to bring the cost down.

Medical payments coverage and PIP – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage provide coverage for short-term medical expenses for things like hospital visits, funeral costs and EMT expenses. They are often used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you do not have health coverage. Coverage applies to all vehicle occupants and also covers any family member struck as a pedestrian. Personal injury protection coverage is not an option in every state but can be used in place of medical payments coverage

Liability coverages – This coverage provides protection from damage or injury you incur to other’s property or people in an accident. This coverage protects you against claims from other people. Liability doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.

It consists of three limits, bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. Your policy might show values of 25/50/25 that means you have a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, a limit of $50,000 in injury protection per accident, and $25,000 of coverage for damaged propery.

Liability coverage protects against things like bail bonds, court costs and structural damage. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a personal decision, but buy as much as you can afford.
